Apprentice Curator – Northern Territory Cricket

Northern Territory Cricket Ltd is the peak sporting body for cricket in the Territory. As custodians of the sport, we work closely with Cricket Australia, the seven other State & Territory Associations and our members to serve and grow the game. Our purpose is to unite and inspire our community through cricket, and our vision is to create a thriving sport for all.

Cricket in the Northern Territory is unique. Our small diverse community is spread across a vast and rugged land mass bigger than most countries. Our two largest towns are 1,500kms apart. Our season never ends, with Top End cricketers playing in the dry season, while those in the Red Centre battle it out over summer. Cricket doesn’t stop in the Territory and that’s the way we like it.

Cricket in the Territory is entering its most exciting phase of growth and opportunity in over a decade. We are on the lookout for an Apprentice Curator to join our small tight knit team of people seeking to elevate the role we play in Australian Cricket, in particular in consistently bringing premium domestic and international cricket content to the Top End.

If you love sport, have ambition and drive, and can imagine yourself carving out a career in the sports turf industry in Darwin’s beautiful dry season then we’d love to hear from you.

About the role

Reporting directly to the Head of Facilities, the Apprentice Curator will be primarily responsible for assisting in the delivery of first-class standard turf management at DXC Arena, Cazalys Arena and TIO Stadium in Darwin.

The position will play a key role in a small team focused on ensuring the availability, preparation, performance and presentation of key cricket venues throughout Darwin to support the growth and development of both community and elite levels of the sport.

Due to the sporting landscape in the Northern Territory, this apprenticeship will offer the successful candidate unique exposure to an exceptionally broad range of turf management experiences and opportunities, and the potential for an accelerated level of skills and development whilst under the mentorship of experienced Sports Turf Professionals.

The successful candidate will be fully supported in obtaining the relevant Sports Turf Management qualifications from a registered education provider and will be remunerated above the minimum industry award wages.
