Digital & Communications Specialist

The Role

We are currently seeking to appoint an experienced Digital & Communications Specialist to join our team as our primary media contact for Victoria’s State Men’s and Women’s teams, creating digital concepts and content for both teams and their corporate partners across all media, digital and social channels. In addition, our Digital & Communications Specialist will work across Cricket Victoria (CV) and our W/BBL teams – Melbourne Renegades and Melbourne Stars, to execute digital communications campaigns via eDM and SMS.   

Key Responsibilities include:

  •  Work with the Digital & Communication team to oversee all aspects of Victorian State team media and public relations, driving positive media and public relations outcomes across the business to increase Victoria’s share of voice.
  • Act as the primary Victorian State team media manager for both the Men’s and Women’s teams, delivering engaging video/audio content for each team which maximises audience, commercial exposure, and media share of voice.
  • Implement communications plans to deliver in line with the Cricket Victoria Strategy, specifically focused on the Victorian State teams, but also around Pathway programs and other CV programs.
  • Manage internal and external media requests for the Victorian State Teams and the CV Cricket Performance department.
  • Build and develop Victorian media relationships and maintain a comprehensive database of key media contacts.
  • Drive the creation and distribution of media releases and advisories and brief key personal ahead of media engagements.
  • Monitor media coverage, informing the relevant internal stakeholders on issues coverage and recommending relevant responses.
  • Create, test and execute digital communications campaigns via eDM and SMS for Cricket Victoria, the Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades.
  • Lead the Victorian State Cricket social media accounts and website (including historical player record pages) and develop digital storytelling content for this channel.
  • Cover all Victorian State Cricket matches via social media, including but not limited to Sheffield Shield, WNCL, One Day Cup and 2nd XI fixtures. Develop a roster to cover longer format matches (i.e. Shield) to manage workload.
  • Produce partner related digital content for Vic State Cricket corporate partners, as well as for other CV Group corporate partners, including the Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades.
  • Produce the Vic State Cricket Podcast (in conjunction with the Digital & Communications team).
  • Assist with CV Group website content management (PulseLive and WordPress CMS).
  • Build online surveys and data collection forms (i.e. Formstack, WuFoo, Survey Monkey) and link these with Salesforce CRM and Marketing Cloud as required.

Job Details

Required Skills & Experience
Tertiary qualification in Communications, Media, Digital, Sports Marketing or related discipline
Experience in a similar position including drafting copy of all forms of written communication
Proven experience across social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn
Proven experience creating eDM and SMS communications
Experience with systems and digital platforms such as CRM (Salesforce preferred), broadcast email/SMS (Salesforce Marketing Cloud preferred) and CMS skills (preferably PulseLive and WordPress)
Experience working with elite athletes in a major sporting club or organisation is desirable, but not essential
Current Victorian Employee Working with Children Check
Valid Victoria Driver’s License
