The Opportunity:

This role is essential to Cricket East – the communities we serve are diverse.

At Cricket East, we understand that we serve a key role in supporting our communities. This role is designed to play a pivotal role in connecting those communities, using cricket as a vehicle to bring people together. The Diverse Communities Manager will build relationships that enable Cricket East to engage with harder to reach, underrepresented groups. Working across Bedford, Luton, and Peterborough and other urban areas the role will engage with a variety of organisations to help Cricket East develop partnerships and continue to build its reputation.

The Diverse Communities Manager will embed themselves within urban areas, making sure they are a visible and trusted individual, making cricket as accessible, inclusive, and diverse as possible through connecting our pathways, providing new opportunities, and ensuring cricket is a game for everyone.


• To develop a wide range of community cricket activity within urban areas serving diverse communities that:
• Encourages new people to play cricket
• Keeps current players in the game
• Connects our game to various cricket pathways both recreationally and performance cricket
• Engage with and develop and maintain relationships with organisations across Bedfordshire and Huntingdonshire, including but not exclusive to, Schools, Colleges, Universities, Cricket Clubs, Sports Clubs, Social Clubs, Charitable organisations, Businesses, Faith Groups and Community support and outreach organisations.
• Work closely with local associations to enable them to upskill their volunteer workforce in urban areas to bring new officials, grounds people, and coaches through courses each year.
• Build a close relationship with partners such as Lords Taverners, overseeing our partnership to ensure programmes like Wicketz and Super 1’s are delivered to the highest standards.

Job Details

Required Skills & Experience
• Experience of working at Management level, either in sport or in a corporate environment.
• Ability to oversee and implement complex programs of delivery, management and recording key data.
• Strong planning and project management skills.
• Build and maintain key relationships with stakeholders.
• Ability to think creatively and be innovative.
• Ability to manage the performance and capability of individuals within the Participation and Growth team.
• Strong relationship building skills.
• Total commitment to embedding EDI
• Excellent negotiation skills.
• Strong commitment to the vision, purpose, and values of Cricket East.
Pay rate
£27,500 - £32,500 (Dependent on Experience) + expenses in line with Cricket East expenses policy
