Head of Women and Girls’ Coaching

Summary of purpose 

To be responsible for delivering a coordinated programme of quality coaching in a safe, friendly and professional environment for participants with a specific focus on the development of women and girls cricketers.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver a structured winter and summer training programme for all women and girls cricketers.
  • Coach a minimum of 212 hours of organised team coaching as set out in the hours of work and provide 47 hours of admin support..
  • Provide 1:1 coaching for women and girls from across the club, (the income for this will be paid directly to you and the hours will be addition to the 269 hours that you work directly for the club)
  • Identify and develop emerging talent within the women and girls section and ensure a pathway to junior county / regional cricket and senior cricket.
  • Ensure juniors are integrated into senior women's squads.
  • Liaise with the captains of the three NLCC women’s teams to ensure coaching is appropriate for all levels and that the skills taught are those that the teams require.
  • Liaise with junior age group managers on match preparation and player roles/development to ensure training is aligned to need.
  • Liaise with the Women’s manager (volunteer role) who organises player registrations and memberships, leagues, entry into competitions, friendly games, grounds availability, kit and other requirements.
  • Organise supporting coaches as required.
  • Introduce appropriate specialist coaches as required.
  • Take responsibility for completing and returning all necessary forms including a register of participants, risk assessments and accident reports.
  • Operate in accordance with national minimum standards for coaches and activities.
  • Be responsible for setting up and dismantling all the equipment required for each coaching session and ensure that it is always safe for use.
  • Wear and maintain issued NLCC clothing as directed.
  • Work with the Director of cricket to consider how best to attract new girls and women cricketers to the club. This could be an outreach programme for local schools or an Emerging Players Programme (EPP) academy for the girls.

Job Details

Required Skills & Experience
Minimum ECB Level 2 (ideally level 3).
Proven experience of leading the coaching of large groups with support from volunteers.
A strong playing and coaching history.
Understanding of women’s cricket and the unique drivers, motivations and barriers relating to female participation.
Must be based in the UK and have the right to work here.
Able to work independently.
Up to date DBS/ Safeguarding Young Cricketers/ First Aid.
A good understanding of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion principles.
Pay rate
Level 2 £20-£25 or Level 3 £30-35 per hour
