Marketing Manager

North West Cricket (NPC) is inviting applications for the position of a Marketing Manager.

NWC is a provincial governing body for the sport of cricket in North West and administers all aspects of North West

Cricket. The Marketing Manager should have the appropriate balance of knowledge, skills, experience, diversity and

independence for it to discharge its duties and responsibilities effectively.


The ideal candidate will have and must demonstrate working experience at Marketing duties in sports administration.

The ideal candidate will have an understanding and strong interest in cricket. Most importantly, our ideal candidate will

have strong interpersonal skills, including excellent communication and engagement skills, and will be an outstanding



Diversity will be a strong consideration when making appointments. The candidate must possess the criteria set out

below. Although not exhaustive, these criteria will serve as a guide in assessing prospective candidates.


Purpose of the Role

To lead the implementation of the company’s comprehensive Marketing Strategy and to report on its outcomes to the CEO and other relevant stakeholders.


Key Accountabilities:


1. Brand Management

• Enable the consistent application of the NWC Brand by sharing the NWC Brand Manual timeously with relevant

stakeholders and supporting all stakeholders in the application thereof.

• Execute promotional events ensuring the delivery of a consistent brand experience to fans and partners,

• Contribute to building brand equity and affinity by monitoring and reporting on customer experiences through

agreed feedback and surveys.

• Identify and position opportunities to enhance the brand.


2. Marketing

• Implement activities and initiatives as per integrated marketing, commercial and communication strategy, and plans.

• Provide administrative support on marketing campaigns, including obtaining feedback, assessing the impact and reach of the campaign.

• Conduct targeted research and market analysis to identify trends across the cricket landscape as well as Marketing best practice.


3. Communication and Public Relations

• Build and maintain relationships through effective networking with all stakeholders including the media, peers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication of information on the NWC Brand.

• Manage and monitor the corporate image by creating, maintaining, and ensuring compliance to corporate colours, company logos, corporate letterheads.

• Coordinate press conferences or breakfast sessions according to company needs as well as co-ordinate radio, TV and Journalist interviews.

• Support website management by providing quality content to the Outsourced Partner/Agency on time, ensuring business objectives are achieved.

• Provide quality social media content on time (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram. TikTok, LinkedIn etc) that resonates with the target audience.

• Point of contact/liaison for all media and journalists.

• Coordination of Match Day media logistics (Media centre setup, accreditation, meals etc.)

• Produce meaningful communication and experiences across relevant platforms which resonate with the target audience based on PR report.

• Support crisis communication strategies.

• Support and enable the development of a comprehensive communications profile which includes both traditional and online platforms.

• The candidate must be able to compile press releases in a professional manner.


4. Advertising / Promotion

• Support the identification of audiences including defining communities and developing tactics to understand their needs.

• Ensure marketing and communications activities balance both growth of new fans and retention of existing, including increased stadium attendance, social media engagement, promoting non- cricket stadium offers (i.e. tenants, tours, venue hire etc).

• Support the co-creation and production of advertising and promotional material in partnership with outside agencies.


5. Event Management

• Develop and implement Venue Hire, Events and Match Day communication.

• Develop and maintain a Stadium Profile, as well as develop and implement packages and exceptional experiences (online, booklet and events).

• Implement and deploy channels to obtain customer feedback, respond to feedback timeously and apply insights

to improve the customer experience.

• Management of Match Day media logistics (Media centre setup, accreditation, meals etc.).

• Ensure exceptional stadium experiences for both cricket and non-cricket activities and events.


6. People Management

• Regularly schedule meets with all direct reports in a structured fashion, both one-on-one and collectively.

• Monitors and manages performance to clearly communicated expectations, including but not limited by means of Keeping Score.

• Ensures PDPs (Personal Development Plans) are executed.

• Maintains an environment and climate conducive to high performance. Leading by example.

Required Experience and Qualification:

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, or communication.

• 3 - 5 years of working experience coordinating and implementing advertising, sales, marketing, brand management,

communication strategy.

• Knowledgeable and experience in general Marketing (both Traditional and Digital) and PR.

• The candidate must have vast experience and understanding of cricket, the cricket eco system and sport environment
