Durham Cricket is a diverse organisation offering opportunities for creative and technical design across the marketing department. Its core businesses being professional cricket along with events such as concerts and conferences. Durham Cricket is offering an exciting opportunity to work in their marketing and communications department working with experienced marketing professionals. You will be able to gain experience of all aspects of the design process.
We are expanding the Club to deliver marketing and communications for a new women’s professional cricket team as well as continuing to deliver for our men’s team. A candidate will be hands on using Adobe creative suite of software as well as e-commerce sites, website programmes and e-communications systems. The work will include a lot of creative design to support the marketing and communication efforts of the team across professional sport and events.
What will you be doing?
The apprentice will be working day-to-day with our marketing and communications team and outsourced design team to concept, design and artwork marketing initiatives and provide graphic support to our communications team.
The role will involve producing advertisements, graphic overlays for video use, matchday communications graphics, social media graphics, design and production of brochures, posters, flyers and other promotional materials and assisting in the design and production of proposals for commercial partners.
The candidate will also work across all of our digital platforms helping to maintain and deliver marketing and communications to our broad audience using these tools.
Duties to include:
Producing creative design outputs in a broad range of media.
Contribute fresh ideas and creative input consistent with the Durham Cricket style and identity.
Interpreting data and presenting it in a clear and accessible format appropriate to the intended audience.
Ensuring graphic design outputs intended for online audiences meet Accessibility legislation
Managing and prioritising own workload to ensure deadlines are met.
Working collaboratively with multiple departments and other communication team members to launch projects
Using feedback and recommendations from others to enhance career development
To act as an ambassador for the department and promote its services.
To contribute to helping us to continually improve our service and make it more efficient.
To complete the apprenticeship within the agreed timescales
Any other duties as deemed appropriate by senior staff.
Essential Skills:
Creative concept and design visualisation skills.
The ability to utilise a broad suite of industry standard design software.
Help design, develop and execute into production a broad range of materials and services.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the ideal candidate being able to utilise their experience to offer new ways of working.
Essential
Maths: Must have a min GCSE grade 4 or equivalent
English: Must have a min GCSE grade 4 or equivalent
And an Appropriate Creative Qualification at level 3
Experienced in the use of Adobe Creative Suite or similar software
Desirable
An interest in Cricket or sport
Photographic qualification or experience
Graphic Design qualification
Previous experience of creating engaging graphic design content (professional or personal)
Managing workload with competing deadlines.
Working as part of a team, ie at work, sport etc
Confident communicator
An eye for detail
Knowledge of basic design principles
