About the Role | Responsibilities

We have an awesome opportunity for someone to take the next step in their Events/Project Management career. An integral part of our Venues, Events and Facilities team, the Events Manager – Super Smash will be responsible for strategic planning and project management, aiming to support key NZC, domestic, broadcast and commercial stakeholders in the delivery of the Super Smash.

This position will only require a minimal amount of travel and is not directly responsible for delivery of events, but rather is there to guide our key stakeholders and support the wider events team. It is a fast-paced role where you need to be curious and autonomous with the ability to deliver to deadlines. The role responsibilities will include:

  • Strategic Management – Drive new initiatives and strategic event planning to position the Super Smash as a leader in sports, venue and event management.
  • Project Management – Be responsible for managing timeframes and budgets as well as supporting departments and teams to deliver within guidelines.
  • Event Planning – Lead the innovation of event planning frameworks and processes to improve stakeholder integration and ensure consistent delivery of Super Smash matches. This will involve coordinating and supporting our Major Associations to help adapt plans to their local environments and resources.
  • Broadcast & Commercial – Partner with key broadcast and commercial stakeholders to ensure that production and sponsorship requirements are fulfilled.
  • Marketing & Communications – Coordinate with the marketing and communications team to promote the Super Smash and develop fan engagement strategies.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Proven track record of event and project planning in sport and/or events with at least 5 years experience.
  • A love for sport (cricket in particular!) and the challenges which come with managing and supporting stakeholders to deliver to tight deadlines.
  • Methodical and Structured – You are process oriented and have proven resilience under pressure with the ability to evaluate information, identify solutions and formulate solutions in a timely manner.
  • An ability to drive projects autonomously and be curious about improving the Events Management and Super Smash competition experience.
  • Thrives with sole project responsibility but can also collaborate with a range of teams and stakeholders effectively.
  • A strong written and oral communicator, with a demonstrated ability to build relationships and lead discussions at all levels.
  • A knowledge/experience of broadcast event/match day operations either at venues in New Zealand or internationally.
  • Sound experience using Microsoft Office suite.
  • Tertiary qualification in Business (Marketing), Events, Sports, Project Management, or other relevant management qualification.
