Canterbury Cricket has an exciting opportunity to add to our Game Development Officer team, who work across the region to provide quality cricket experiences for all.
We are looking for 2x Game Development Officers (GDOs), one to be based in Christchurch and one to be based in Canterbury Country with regular travel to Buller and the West Coast. These roles are full time seasonal roles, starting 1st October till 31st March. These roles are varied and would suit someone who enjoys spending time on the ground, who can connect with a wide range of groups and individuals and is willing to be innovative.

About Canterbury Cricket:
Canterbury Cricket’s vision is ‘A Game for All, A Game for Life’. The CCA community team work closely with our District Associations to bring this vision to life by providing a range of cricket playing opportunities at the grassroots level, and developing coaches, umpires and scorers. Canterbury Cricket also oversee high performance cricket in the region, including the management of the Canterbury men’s and women’s teams and the talent development pathways.
About the role:
As part of the Canterbury Cricket community team you will deliver national participation programmes, and connect with schools, clubs and communities to create and pilot local initiatives, with the overall aim of growing the community game. Some of these include Smash Play junior-tamariki, Smash Play youth-rangatahi, Girls Smash, All Abilities Cricket, and Ethnic Family Days. You will also provide support to coaches within junior cricket through the delivery of coaching courses and a physical presence at club/school training sessions.
As per the Job Description, these roles are primarily delivery based, working off plans that have been created for the 2024/25 season.
The GDOs focus is to attract new people to our game, particularly those that are currently under-represented, by providing quality cricket experiences suited to each groups wants and needs. The ability to listen, learn and collaborate with these groups is key.
