Main Purpose of Job:
The Girls Academy and Regional Performance Coach plays a crucial part in delivering SCCC’s
Emerging Players Programme (EPP) and Academy, with a focus on developing high-potential
female cricketers. The position heavily contributes to the University of Exeter Women’s cricket
programme, where the role provides high-quality coaching to top-performing players. The role is
instrumental in identifying, inspiring, and nurturing talent from Devon and Cornwall County Age
Groups (CAG) and across the wider region.
Main Responsibilities:
Delivery and Coaching:
- Work alongside the Girls Academy Lead to plan and deliver coaching sessions to
deliver high quality sessions to Somerset Academy and EPP cricketers. - Work closely with the Head of Cricket to deliver the University of Exeter Women’s
cricket programme, providing support to deliver high-quality training sessions
focused on individual player growth and team performance. - Support the delivery of County Age Group sessions across Devon and Cornwall
pathways ensuring that players are appropriately identified to transition onto
Somerset EPP and Academy programmes. - Provide match-day coaching and tactical guidance across SCCC and Exeter
University programmes, ensuring players are prepared for fixtures, helping them to
develop their ability to impact games. - Collaborate with SCCC’s Head of Pathway Coaching to ensure that training plans and
delivery aligns with SCCC’s player development framework - Develop and execute Player Development Plans (PDPs) for players within both the
university and pathway programmes, conducting regular reviews and providing
tailored feedback and programmes to aid their continuous improvement. - Ensure a safe, inclusive, and high-performance environment, adhering to
safeguarding and welfare protocols in line with SCCC, Exeter University and ECB
guidelines
Talent Identification and Development:
- Actively engage in supporting the scouting and identification of talent from across the
region with a particular focus on Exeter University alongside Devon and Cornwall
County Age Group players. - Attend regional and national competitions to observe and identify promising young
female cricketers, facilitating opportunities for them to trial and transition onto SCCC
Academy and EPP programmes - Provide feedback on identified players and build relationships that support their
ongoing development. - Create relationships with Devon and Cornwall pathways through high quality
coaching support and regular communication to ensure that emerging female talent
in the region is adequately supported through training, feedback, and access to - appropriate competitive match play
Coach Development:
- Work alongside the Head of Pathway Coaching to identify and mentor local coaches
within the girls’ pathway, providing support and professional development
opportunities to raise the standards of coaching throughout the region. - Participate in regular coaching workshops and development programmes within
SCCC and the University, helping to raise the quality of coaching delivery at all levels
Administration and Operations:
- Plan the delivery of Exeter University Women’s coaching sessions in discussion with
the Head of Cricket. - Utilise technology (e.g. Fulltrack AI) to support player feedback and development.
- Assist with programme evaluation and reporting, contributing to the review process
for the Pathway and University cricket programmes, ensuring alignment with SCCC’s
and Exeter University’s strategic goals.
Other:
