Player/Assistant Coach – Wales National County

The Wales National County (Wales NC) Head Coach is responsible for the running and management of the Wales NC team on the field. The role includes working with the captain of the side, the players, the committee and the Head of Talent Pathway (who oversees overall operations) to ensure that a competitive, skilled and respectful side represents Cricket Wales and the NCCA in the best possible fashion.

Key Duties & Job Description:

  • Plan and deliver aspects of the winter training programme (January – April)​ whilst being a regular figure at sessions (locations generally Newport/Gwent). This may also include pre-season tours bi-annually.
  • Play an active role on the selection committee to select teams for summer fixtures
  • Provide inspirational leadership to lead teams, and play an active playing role during all fixtures across NCCA competitions and the wider fixture list during the summer
  • Liaise and work collaboratively with other stakeholders to include Wales NC North, Glamorgan CCC and senior leagues across Wales
  • With support from the captain and coach, be responsible for collating all umpire feedback during NCCA competitions and completing reports as directed
  • Attend any mandatory CPD or training directed by Cricket Wales
  • Assist the Head Coach in providing regular and ongoing feedback to players ​
  • Deputise for the Head Coach in necessary situations

Knowledge & Understanding of:

·        NCCA cricket and its role within the England and Wales player pathway

·        The Welsh cricketing pathway

·        Desire to develop a project and implement it over a 3-5 year period

RENUMERATION:

Hourly coaching rate (Winter) + Match Day Rate during summer fixtures including mileage and subsistence for away fixtures

Performance related bonuses may be available.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CHECKS REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of a Level 3 (Advanced) qualified cricket coach
  • ECB DBS clearance certificate (renewed annually)
  • A valid First Aid certificate (completed every three years)
  • A valid ECB e-learning Safeguarding module certificate (completed every three years)
  • Face to face Pathway Safeguarding Induction (completed every three years)
