CPNG administers and facilitates all cricket in Papua New Guinea, including school programs,
junior and senior club cricket, and international men’s and women’s cricket. There are over 5,000
registered cricketers in the country playing regular cricket in organized and structured competitions
and over 150,000 kids involved annually in school programs.
Job Overview:
The Senior Manager – Finance and HR is responsible for managing the financial and human
resources operations of Cricket PNG. This role involves strategic financial planning, budget
management, payroll oversight, and ensuring the organization’s financial health. Additionally, the
manager will oversee HR functions, including talent acquisition, staff development, and
maintaining a positive work environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in
finance and human resources, with a keen understanding of the sports industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
▪ Develop and execute financial strategies and plans to ensure the organization’s long-term
financial health.
▪ Manage the changeover of accounting systems (MYOB to Xero) to ensure that information is
secure and can be readily accessed.
▪ Oversee budget preparation, management, and reporting, ensuring that all departments
operate within allocated budgets.
▪ Manage cash flow, including forecasting, and provide regular financial reports to senior
management.
▪ Report, as required, to various international and domestic partners in a timely manner.
▪ Ensure compliance with PNG financial regulations and standards, conducting audits as
necessary.
▪ Collaborate with other Cricket PNG Senior Managers to identify financial opportunities and
areas for cost reduction.
Human Resources Management:
▪ Lead the HR function, including recruitment, selection, and onboarding of new employees.
▪ Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business
strategy.
▪ Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all laws and
regulations.
▪ Oversee employee relations, including conflict resolution, performance management, and
staff welfare.
▪ Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations, updating policies and procedures as
needed.
General Management:
▪ Serve as a key member of the Senior Management Team, contributing to strategy and policy
development.
▪ Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing organizational culture.
▪ Liaise with external partners, including auditors, legal advisors, and regulatory agencies.
▪ Manage relationships with stakeholders, including athletes, coaches, and other staff.
▪ Continuously monitor the sports industry for trends and changes that may impact the
organization.
Working Conditions:
