1. Who we are
CRICKET JOBS LTD is the controller responsible for the personal information described in this policy. We are a private limited company registered in Northern Ireland under company number NI696494. Our registered office is Opus House, 137 York Road, Belfast, Northern Ireland, BT15 3GZ.
For privacy questions or requests, email info@cricket.jobs.
2. The information we collect
Depending on how you use the site, we may collect the following information:
- Account and sign-in information: username, name, email address, location, country, password hash, login and security records, account preferences, and the Google account identifier when you choose Google sign-in. We do not store your Google password.
- Cricket Passport information: professional headline and summary, headshot or profile photo, city, languages, employment and career history, roles, qualifications, credentials, references, portfolio links, availability, relocation and travel preferences, work eligibility, target careers, target locations, preferred employment level, and the timeline or other preferences you choose to save.
- Credential evidence: qualification metadata, issuing body, dates, status, verification details and documents or images uploaded as evidence. Evidence files are private by default and stored in encrypted form; they are not made public merely because a Passport is public.
- Applications: the job, cover note, attachments, Passport completion information, application status and history, and an immutable copy of the name, email address and Passport information sent with the application. Changes to your Passport after submission do not rewrite that application copy.
- Employer, organisation and business information: organisation or business name, contact details, job or playing-opportunity details, location, pay, closing date, application instructions, logos, photographs, websites, social links, directory information, claims and team or representative details.
- Enquiries, support and messages: your name, email address, telephone number, organisation, ticket subject and category, message content, attachments, replies, status and assignment history.
- Payments and subscriptions: the Stripe checkout, payment, invoice, subscription, renewal and entitlement identifiers, amount, currency and status needed to provide boosts or Partner services. Stripe handles payment-card details; Cricket Jobs does not receive or store the full card number.
- Marketing information: email address, name, club, country, subscription choices and records of consent, unsubscribe or suppression.
- Technical and usage information: IP address, browser and device information, approximate location, pages viewed, referring page, campaign parameters, interactions, security events and diagnostic logs.
Please do not include health information, criminal-record information or other special-category personal information in free-text fields unless we have specifically asked for it and explained why it is needed. Work-eligibility or visa information may be personal information and should be limited to what is necessary. Headshots are used as profile photographs; we do not use them for facial recognition or biometric profiling.
3. How we collect information
We collect information directly from you, from an employer or authorised representative submitting a listing, from an organisation or business representative, automatically when you use the site, and through communications connected with our services. A job application may be completed on cricket.jobs or may take you to an employer’s or recruitment partner’s website. Any third-party site will process information under its own privacy notice.
4. How and why we use information
- To provide accounts, Passports, listings, applications and requested services: where necessary to take steps at your request or perform a contract.
- To match people and opportunities: to display search results, apply the preferences you save, show relevant credentials or pathways, and connect cricket organisations, businesses and candidates.
- To operate, secure and improve the site: for our legitimate interests in running an effective, reliable and safe service, preventing misuse, understanding performance, moderating content and supporting users.
- To publish and promote listings or profiles: to perform our agreement with the person or organisation submitting them and for our legitimate interests in connecting the cricket community. You choose which Passport fields are public or restricted.
- To process payments and entitlements: to complete a requested Stripe checkout, record a boost or Partner subscription, handle renewal or cancellation, and administer the related listing benefits.
- To answer enquiries and manage business relationships: to take requested pre-contract steps, perform a contract, or pursue our legitimate interests in responding and developing our services.
- To send newsletters and promotional email: with consent where required, or otherwise where electronic-marketing law permits. You can unsubscribe or object at any time.
- To meet legal and regulatory duties: where processing is necessary to comply with law, establish or defend legal claims, prevent fraud, or respond to lawful requests.
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we consider whether the use is necessary and proportionate and whether your rights override those interests. We do not use personal information for solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
5. Applications, Passports and public information
When you apply through cricket.jobs, the relevant organisation and its authorised job managers receive your cover note, contact details, any permitted attachments and the Passport snapshot attached to that application. The snapshot is kept as an audit record of what you submitted. The organisation uses it to assess and respond to your application and becomes responsible for its own subsequent recruitment processing. You may withdraw an application where the application workflow permits, but we may retain an audit copy where necessary for security, dispute handling or legal obligations.
If a listing directs you to an external application page or email address, the relevant employer or recruiter normally becomes responsible for the information you send to them. Cricket Jobs does not control that external processing.
Job listings, organisation and business details, playing opportunities, and any candidate or business profile intended for publication may be visible worldwide and may be indexed by search engines. Only fields you make public or agree to share are shown on a public Passport. Private career goals, target locations, employment level, credential numbers and evidence are not public by default. Do not submit personal contact details for publication unless you are comfortable making them public. We may moderate, edit, expire, archive or remove content to operate the service and enforce our terms.
6. Analytics, cookies and external services
In the current headless build, we use cookies and similar technologies only where they are needed for essential functions such as account login, session security, preferences, administration and payment flows. We do not run the legacy WordPress analytics, Microsoft Clarity, SendFox, Google reCAPTCHA or Gravatar services described in older versions of this policy, and no non-essential analytics is active while the OpenPanel project is unconfigured.
When enabled, we use a separate, self-hosted OpenPanel analytics instance to understand page views, referring pages, approximate device or browser information and outgoing-link clicks. The initial configuration is cookieless, does not identify Passport users, and does not enable form-attribute capture or session replay. OpenPanel is hosted for Cricket Jobs on Railway rather than sending analytics data to OpenPanel’s hosted service.
Depending on the feature and environment, operational providers may include Railway for hosting (including the self-hosted OpenPanel instance), Payload and PostgreSQL for application data, Cloudflare for DNS and delivery, Cloudflare R2 for media storage, Stripe for requested payments, and Google when you choose Google sign-in. These providers may receive technical identifiers and information needed to provide their services.
Non-essential storage or access technologies will be used only with consent where the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations require it. If we add analytics, advertising or other non-essential technologies, we will update this policy and provide an appropriate consent choice before they are used. You can control or delete cookies through your browser, although blocking essential cookies may stop account or form features working.
7. Who we share information with
We may share information with:
- the organisation, employer, recruiter or business you ask us to contact, and authorised people who manage the relevant listing, application, enquiry or directory record;
- hosting, database, storage, security, payment, email, customer-support and technical providers acting for us;
- Google when you choose Google sign-in, and Stripe when you start or complete a payment or subscription;
- professional advisers, insurers, auditors and prospective purchasers or investors where reasonably necessary;
- courts, regulators, law-enforcement bodies and other authorities where required or permitted by law.
We do not sell personal information. We require service providers that process information for us to respect confidentiality and use it only for agreed purposes, subject to their own legal obligations.
8. International transfers
Cricket is international, and some users, employers and service providers are outside the United Kingdom. A global hosting or software provider may process information in another country. Where personal information is transferred outside the UK and the transfer is restricted by UK data-protection law, we use an applicable adequacy regulation or appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum to approved contractual clauses, binding corporate rules or a lawful exception, together with supplementary measures where required. We review provider locations and safeguards when services change.
9. How long we keep information
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including providing the service, keeping an accurate record of listings and communications, resolving disputes, preventing fraud, and meeting tax, accounting and legal duties. We periodically review retention and securely delete or anonymise information that is no longer needed.
- Accounts and Passports: normally while the account is active and for a reasonable period after closure. We may keep limited records for security, legal claims and compliance.
- Applications and snapshots: while the recruitment process and related administration are active and normally for up to six years after a decision or withdrawal where needed for audit, dispute or legal purposes. An employer may retain its own copy under its privacy notice.
- Credential evidence: while the credential or Passport is active and for a reasonable period afterwards where needed to verify a past submission. We delete it when no longer needed, subject to legal or claim-related exceptions.
- Listings, directory records and playing opportunities: while live, then archived or removed according to operational, partner and legal needs. Public copies may remain temporarily in backups or search-engine caches outside our control.
- Support tickets and messages: normally for up to six years after closure, or longer where needed for a complaint, security investigation or legal claim.
- Payments, subscriptions and complaints: normally for up to six years, or longer where tax, accounting, fraud-prevention or legal requirements apply.
- Marketing: until you unsubscribe or object. We may keep a minimal suppression record so we do not contact you again.
- Technical and security logs: for the shorter period needed to operate, troubleshoot and protect the service, unless an incident requires longer preservation.
10. Your rights
Under UK data-protection law, depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to ask us for access to your information, correction, deletion, restriction, transfer to another provider, or to object to processing. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.
You can object to direct marketing at any time, and you can unsubscribe using the link in a marketing message or by emailing us.
For information held by an employer or recruiter as an independent controller, you may need to exercise your rights with that organisation as well. To exercise a right with Cricket Jobs, email info@cricket.jobs. We may need to verify your identity and may ask for clarification so we can find the relevant records. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. We would appreciate the opportunity to address your concern first.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information, including password hashing, encrypted connections and encryption for sensitive evidence uploads where applicable. No internet service is completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password and contact us promptly if you believe an account or communication has been compromised.
12. Children
Account, employer and paid-service features are intended for people aged 18 or over. If information about a person under 18 is submitted for recruitment or playing opportunities, the submitting adult or organisation must have lawful authority to provide it and should take particular care not to publish unnecessary contact or sensitive information. Contact us if you believe a child’s information has been provided improperly.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our services, providers or legal obligations change. The latest version will be published here with a revised date. We will provide additional notice where a change materially affects how we use personal information.
